Service and Philanthropy

Each year, the Sisters of Kappa Phi Lambda work to go above and beyond limitations in hopes of providing service and giving back to our community. We recognize that our communities and culture are what have made us the strong and independent women that we are today. We work to reciprocate what we have received back to the communities around us. Our sisters are constantly participating in individual community service events, as well as giving their full support to causes as a unified organization and entity.

National Philanthropy: Care

The National Philanthropy of Kappa Phi Lambda is Cooperative for Assistance and Relief Everywhere (CARE), which is an international organization working to fight global poverty. CARE is our national philanthropy where we dedicate a week of workshops to raise awareness and fundraise to save help lives, defeat poverty, and achieve social justice.

Local Philanthropy: Polaris Project

While we continue to support our national philanthropic cause, the Upsilon Chapter has also adopted the Polaris Project as its chapter cause. The mission of the Polaris Project is to combat modern-day slavery and human trafficking which not only renders individuals weak and abused, but also strips a person of their human rights. While the members of the Polaris Project work to strengthen the anti-trafficking movement, the Sisters of Upsilon Chapter offer support through benefits and events in which all proceeds goes to the Polaris Project

Local Philanthropy: Safe Horizon

Recently we have also adopted another philanthropy, Safe Horizons dedicated to our late alum, Sunny “LaROK” Kim, who passed away on May 2nd, 2015, to honor her and who she was as a sister here at the Upsilon Associate Chapter. It is the largest non-profit victim services agency in the United States. Safe Horizon’s mission is to provide support, prevent violence and promote justice for victims of crime and abuse, their families, and communities.
